How to set Clerk.io up on a Magento store.

When you add a new store in Clerk.io our setup guide will guide you through everything. The steps below are just for external reference ;-)

1. Installing the extension

To install the extension simply follow the guide below:

  1. Download the latest version of our Magento extension.
  2. Go to System -> Magento Connect -> Magento Connect Manager.
  3. In "Direct package file upload", upload the ClerkForMagento-x.x.x.tgz file to install it.
  4. Go to System -> Configuration -> Clerk to open the extension.

2. Connecting a Magento store to Clerk.io

  1. Go to System -> Configuration -> Clerk to open the extension.
  2. Select your desired store from the store selector in the upper left corner.
  3. Take your API keys from my.clerk.io, by clicking the settings icon in the top right corner of the desired Store card and copy-paste them as shown on the picture below.
  4. Now go to Data Sync in my.clerk.io and select Magento under Sync Method.
  5. Copy the Import url from the extensions settings panel into the Import URL field as shown below, set the page size to 50 and choose Order History from All Time.
  6. Click Update Settings and then click Start Sync.

3. Setting up Search

Clerk.io's search engine consists of a Live-Search dropdown and a Search page. Both can be enabled from the extension by following these steps:

  1. Go to Templates at my.clerk.io.
  2. Create a new template called "Search" and choose Magento Search and choose Website as the type. Optionally, choose a starting template as well.
  3. Create another template called Live-Search and choose Website as the type. Optionally, choose a starting template as well.
  4. Go to Content and create 1 Content block called Search and 1 called Live-Search.
  5. Configure the Search Content to use the Search type and the Live-Search Content to use Live-Search.
  6. Go back to the extension page in the Magento backend and enable Search and Live-Search from there.
  7. Make sure that the Clerk Template ID in the extension matches the name of the template that you have just created. Usually this will be "search" and "live-search".
  8. Click Save Config.

4. Setting up the Powerstep

  1. Go to Templates at my.clerk.io.
  2. Create a new template called "Recommendations" and choose Website as the type. Optionally, choose a starting template as well.
  3. Go to Content and create a Content block called Powerstep.
  4. Configure the Content block to have the type Accessory Products.
  5. Go back to the extension page in the Magento backend and enable it under Powerstep settings
  6. Choose the Pop-up option, and type in the name of your Content.
  7. Click Save Config.

5. Creating and Embedding Recommendations

  1. Create unique Content blocks for each slider/recommendations box.
  2. Choose the relevant Type for each recommendation in its own Content block.
  3. If you havent done it yet, create a Template that you can use in all the recommendations, so they have the same styling.
  4. Get the embed-code for each Content, and put it on the relevant page in Magento.
